Unikalus Sokis

The organization’s journey began in 2017 when Rita Juškytė participated in the international Reach for Change competition, “Talent to Change,” presenting the idea of “Dance Lessons for Children with Special Educational Needs.” This innovative concept won the Reach for Change incubator, leading to the creation of Uniq Dance and one of the first dance studios for people with disabilities in Vilnius. Uniq Dance enhances the cultural and recreational lives of people with disabilities by organizing dance performances and camps for children with disabilities, while collaborating with Scandinavian countries.

From 2021 to December 2023, the organization participated in the Alternative Investment Detector project, funded by the European Social Fund Agency, to develop the “Unique Life” project, empowering people with disabilities to seek employment independently. They offer lectures, training sessions, and educational activities for various organizations and companies. To maintain a positive work environment, they prioritize staff well-being, fostering an open, supportive culture and encouraging flexibility and time off when needed. Working with individuals facing significant employment barriers can be challenging, so they regularly share success stories and invite external speakers to inspire our participants, helping to maintain motivation and belief in our mission. The organization embodies social innovation through its inclusive, holistic, and community-driven approach to supporting people with disabilities. They break down barriers, provide comprehensive support, and prioritize mental health. Their model empowers individuals with disabilities to find employment and fosters a supportive community that continues to offer guidance and friendship. They are eager to share our insights across Europe, inspiring positive change throughout the continent.
